New Visitor Centre Sherwood Forest ,  Facilities for Weddings and receptions will be available when built > It is not now possible to rely on the Council or it's managers in relation to anything Wedding related, plans for wedding recption and confrence facilities at the new visitor centre have been ditched >  defies belief.

Major Oak Blessings will be allowed at the tree itself if you are prepared to walk.  Tell me,  if your Bride is prepared to mess up her expensive Wedding dress on the long walk down to the Oak, then please enquire to Nott's County Council.  To get married at the Oak would require a change in English Law, if the ceremony were in Scotland it would be legal providing it was correctly licensed and all the legal conditions for the ceremony were satisfied.  ( No sorry I'm not getting involved in changing the Statute Book please see your local Member of Parliament for this one. )

03/04/2009  Footnote:- Proposals have been submitted to Nottinghamshire County Council regarding Wedding car access to the Major Oak,  this is never an easy task in certain quarters,  however I am as always optimistic of a favourable outcome to negotiations,  It is also hoped to include a formal welcome for the newlyweds from a member of the Rangers staff and a senior member of the FoSF.

11/09/2009  Despite several attempts to allow wedding cars access to the Major Oak under strict supervision Council officials are determined this is not going to happen, as I was told to-day in no uncertain manner.  All this is despite strict rules and protocols imposed on the parties to negate any damage, and a charging system that would at the end of the year provided substantial funding for further security measures to protect the Major Oak,  I have the distinct feeling that had this have been their own initiative it would be a very different story.  Perhaps we can hope for a change of administration in the not to distant future and a more enlightened outlook.     Adrian
